How to get to Istanbul University,
Faculty of Pharmacy, Congress and Cultural Center

From Istanbul Airports

In Istanbul, there are two airports;  Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Ataturk Airport is located on the European side of Istanbul and Sahiba Gokce Airport is on Anatolian (Asian) side of the city. Ataturk Airport is recommended  due to the location of the venue.

From Ataturk Airport

By metro: First, take the metro from Ataturk Airport to Zeytinburnu station which takes 15 minutes. Next, change to Zeytinburnu-Kabatas tram line. This tram gets to Beyazit (Grand Bazaar) passing through Topkapi, Fındıkzade, Capa, Aksaray (approximately 20 minutes). Get off at Beyazit station, which is a 5 minute walk from Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University. Metro fare is 1.95 TL (about 1 euro). You can find ticket machine in every station.

By airway shuttle: Take Havatas shuttle (every half an hour) from Ataturk Airport to Taksim. Journey time is approximately 40 minutes, however it may vary depending on the traffic. Coach fare is 10 TL (about 4 euro, you can take the ticket in the shuttle) (or take the bus 96T, approximately 50-60 minutes). In order to get to the Central Campus of the University of Istanbul from Taksim Square, take the bus number 61B. Get off at the last stop (Beyazit). The journey takes about 30 minutes. You can also take Taksim-Vezneciler metro line (10 min). It costs 1.95 TL (about 1 euro). The Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University is 5 minutes away from the bus station.

By taxi: Transport from Ataturk airport to conference venue takes about 15/20 minutes by taxi and costs around  20-25 Euros depending on the traffic. All taxis have a taximeter. The rate is the same for day and night.

From Sabiha Gokcen Airport

By airway shuttle: Take Havatas shuttle (every half an hour) from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Taksim. Journey time is approximately 90 minutes, however it may vary depending on the traffic.  Coach fare is 13 TL (about 5 euro,you can take the ticket in the shuttle), Take the bus number 61B to get to the Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University from Taksim Square. Get off at last stop (Beyazit). The journey takes about 30 minutes. It costs 1.95 TL (about 1 euro).

By ferry: Take the bus E-10, ’Kadikoy-Kurtkoy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport’ to get to Kadikoy ferry port. The ferry takes you from Kadıkoy to Eminönü. And then take the tram. This tram goes to Beyazit (Grand Bazaar) passing though Sirkeci, Sultanahmet, Cemberlitas. Get off at Beyazit station, which is 5 minutes away from Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University. Ferry fare is 1.95 TL (about 1 euro).

By taxi: Journey from the airport to conference venue and conference hotels takes about 30/40 minutes by taxi and cost about 75-100 Euros depending on the traffic.

From Bayrampasa (Esenler) Bus Terminal: Take the metro to Aksaray direction. Get off at the last stop (Aksaray). Change at Yusufpasa Station to tram (5 minutes on foot) to Kabatas direction. Get off at Beyazit (Grand Bazaar), which is a 5 minute walk from Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University. It costs 1.95 TL (about 1 euro).

From Istanbul City Center, Taksim: Take Taksim-Vezneciler metro line. Get off Vezneciler station which is a 5 minute walk from Congress and Culture Center of Istanbul University.


Other Travel Information

Passport and Visa: Every foreign visitor entering Turkey must possess a valid passport. Participants from countries requiring a visa for entry to Turkey are strongly advised to make their applications before they arrive, at least one month before the intended date of travel.

Insurance: The congress organizers cannot accept liability for personel injuries sustained or for loss of or damage to property belonging to Congress participants (or their accompanying persons) either during the congress meetings or postcongress activities. Please obtain proper travel and health insurance prior to your trip.

Banks and Currency Exchange: The currency is the Turkish Lira (TL).Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport or the front desk of your hotel. Local banks are open from 08.30 to 17.00 hrs from Monday to Friday. There are also private foreign Exchange offices throughout the city that operate between 08.00 to 20.00 hrs.

Credit Cards: All major credit cards (Visa, Master card) are accepted in Turkey by restaurants, hotels,shops.

Climate: In October the weather is usually warm (approximately 20˚C) in İstanbul.

Time Zone: Time is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +2) in Turkey.

Electricity: The current in Turkey is 220 volts 50 Hz.
